Steady As She Goes: The Future of the Captain’s Table

Greetings all!

First off, I have to apologize for the unintentional absence. As I previously mentioned, I started a new job at the end of August, and it took me longer than expected to settle in. Our beloved cat Gizmo also passed away in the middle of September, and it’s taken me a while to get motivated to start writing again. Then it was the holidays. Then cruises aboard Celebrity Constellation and Brilliant Lady. And unfortunately, this page sort of fell by the wayside.

I’m now more than two years into this blogging journey. I’ve been thinking a lot lately about the future of this page. My love of maritime history is as strong as ever—stronger than ever, actually. I’m making plans to undergo sail training aboard a tall ship in the near future. I’ve started volunteering with the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary again, which has been really rewarding. I finally joined the Queen Mary Club and got the membership pin last time I was in Long Beach. I’m even leaning into the centuries-old maritime tradition of getting tattoos (my wife is a bad influence).

So, all that being said, I’m looking forward to the next chapter of The Captain’s Table.

However, I don’t think I’ll be posting as frequently as I was there for a while. I can’t make any guarantees at this point, but I’m aiming for at least two new posts a month moving forward. That may increase later. I have enough going on right now that I don’t want to overpromise and underdeliver.

Thank you all for your patience and understanding. I appreciate you all more than I can fully express, and I hope you continue to enjoy this page!
